Feature: Offset Horizontal Feed Rollers
Description: The upper feed roller on the BC2100XL is 40” (101.6 cm) wide by 19” (48.2 cm) in diameter. The lower feed roller is 40” (101.6 cm) wide by 11” (27.9 cm) in diameter. Vermeer offset the lower feed roller from the upper feed roller by 10.75” (27.3 cm) toward the end of the feed table.
Benefits: By offsetting the lower feed roller, material can be pulled to the upper feed roller making for easier feeding and lessening the need for the operator to manually control the upper feed roller for large diameter material.
Feature: SmartCrush
Description: Once the upper feed roller raises for 4 seconds, it will automatically increase down pressure on the material being fed and when the upper feed roller is within 1.5” (3.8 cm) of the feed table, the increased down pressure will cease.
Benefits: SmartCrush assists when feeding forked or branchy material.
Feature: SmartFeed
Description: SmartFeed is a patented feed sensing control system which monitors engine rpm and automatically stops or reverses feed rollers when feeding larger, hardwood material. SmartFeed also senses feed roller jams and responds by automatically shifting material back and forth, reducing the need for manual control bar manipulation. With a simple switch, operators can choose between three rpm droop settings to fit the jobs specific application.
Benefits: This exclusive system from Vermeer helps increase operator productivity and reduces strain on vital engine parts, as rpm settings are adjustable and automatically monitored. Three rpm settings offer improved versatility for varying applications. By controlling material jams, this can aid in reducing heat buildup within the hydraulic system.
Feature: Bottom Feed Stop Bar
Description: The Bottom Feed Stop Bar is strategically located to make it possible for an operator's leg to strike the bar and shut off the feed mechanism either intentionally or automatically in an emergency situation. RESET/HOLD TO RUN button on each side of the infeed housing allow the operator to readily reset the system if the bar is tripped.
Benefits: Helps to increase operator safety while manually feeding material.
Feature: Cutter Drum Engagement
Description: Belt-tensioned clutchless design
Benefits: Eliminates the need for an over-center clutch that requires adjustment, rebuilding or replacing. This helps to decrease the cost of operation associated with clutch failures.
Feature: Engine Options
Description: The BC2100XL is available with three tier 3 Cummins diesel engine options; 215 hp (160 kW), 250 hp (186 kW), or 275 hp (205 kW).
Benefits: With three engine options, contractors have the ability to choose an appropriate power level based on their specific jobsite needs.
Feature: Hydraulic Outriggers (optional)
Description: Optional hydraulic outriggers are located at the rear of the machine and are operated from the rear control station.
Benefits: Hydraulic outriggers support the back of the chipper and prevent the unit from bouncing while chipping or while loading large diameter material onto the feed table.
